Eduardo Villarreal Araujo

Born in Timotes on 8 April 1939, the son of Eleuterio Tello Villarreal and Carmen Teresa Araujo Rivas. In 1964 he moved to Valencia, where he became “one more Carabobo man without forgetting his homeland”: from there he follows the life of the municipality and writes for the digital paper Timotes Hoy.

Self-taught researcher, compiler and unofficial chronicler of the town for decades, he wrote two books that have become essential reading on local history: “Semblanza de un Contemporáneo” and “Ecos de Mucurujún”. He also coined the phrase “An wo stimots”, which in the Timote language means “I am Timotes”.

The Miranda Municipal Council named him Honorary Chronicler of Timotes by Resolution no. 015 of 14 November 2023, on the Official Chronicler’s proposal. The appointment was made official on 12 December 2023, at the solemn session for the 404th anniversary of the founding of Timotes and Saint Lucy’s Day, “for his literary works devoted to our town”.

A writer of fine words, a renowned poet, the unofficial chronicler par excellence, an orator of exquisite expression, a great conversationalist with an endless repertoire.
